Directions: ”Can be used daily – Apply an adequate amount of water cream all throughout the face.” (From the Rovectin Website).
How I use it: I apply this in the PM as an evening Moisturiser (to ”seal it all in”). My Oily-Combo Skin doesn’t need to use this in the AM but it’s a necessity in the PM. I also find, because it’s also hydrating, I don’t need to layer up too much on hydrating serums and toners underneath to get the effect I want. I also apply this onto the neck (pea-size amount for the face and pea-size for the neck and near-declote).
Key Ingredients: Niacinamide is the star ingredient in here (I can’t seem to find any papers discussing distilled Lotus Water and any benefits when applied to the skin topically). Niacinamide helps fortify the skin’s barrier, moisturises the skin, brightens the skin and recent research has shown it may be a potential antioxidant. It’s also sebum regulating (so could be good against pimple formation). Kaempferol is added which is an Antioxidant (soothes the skin).
Other notable ingredients: Glycerin + Pentylene Glycol (Moisturising). Aquaxyl (Sugars such as Xylitol, Anhydroxylitol, Glucose and Xylitylglucoside) help hydrate the skin (and draw water into the skin). Panthenol + Allantoin are also included (Soothing).
So overall, it’s nice that this product focuses on skin hydration (also into deeper layers of the skin), Skin-barrier fortification as well as soothing the skin.
Full Ingredients: nelumbo nucifera flower extract, glycerin, pentylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, hydrogenated polyisobutene, niacinamide, 1,2-hexanediol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond)oil, water, sodium polyacryloyldimethyl taurate, panthenol, cetearyl olivate, hydrogenated polydecene, sorbitan olivate, hydroxyacetophenone, hydroxyethylcellulose, allantoin, trideceth10,xylitylglucoside,anhydroxylitol,xylitol,glucose

Texture: A very nice, lightweight moisturiser. It’s almost a gel the way it hydrates the skin, but it doesn’t ball up like a gel typically can do under certain products. This doesn’t fully disappear into the skin, leaving it gagging for moisture (Oily-Combo Skin)m and this provides hydration, layers fine and doesn’t leave a greasy/oily finish. I also don’t think it takes that long to absorb either.
It looks like a watery, lightweight texture when spreading out! It begins as an opaque cream to a translucent and then transparent gel-like consistency.
Hopefully you can see from the finish of this product that there are some oils in there (not just hydration), and it’s giving the skin moisture as well as hydration. The finish itself isn’t oily or greasy to the point that it’s uncomfortable (the skin can breathe).
Does this Sting if the Skin has been Irritated / Sensitised by Shaving/Heavy Retinol Use?: Yes
Summer or Winter?: Summer for Dry Skins and Winter for Oily / Combo.
Layerable?: Yes!
Video Swatch:
Fragrance?: Fragrance + EO Free (Doesn’t smell of anything either).
Good Under Makeup?: Yes! No balling up.
Will I use until Completion?: Yes!
How Long will that take?: I’ve got a quarter left, so it should take another ~2 weeks of daily use.
How long have I been using this?: ~2 Months
The Effect?: Hydrated + Moisturised Skin (No stinging or irritation unless the skin is sensitised). This hasn’t changed the tone or brightened my skin significantly (but I was aiming for a simple moisturiser).
What I like:
- Moisturising
- Hydrating
- Fragrance + EO Free
- Didn’t sting or irritate the skin
- Cruelty-Free
- Lightweight
- No greasy or oily finish
What I don’t like:
- Quite a small ml i.e. I can get through it quite quickly.
Overall Rating and Conclusion: 4/5 – A very nice, moisturising and surprisingly hydrating cream. It’s lightweight, it didn’t irritate my skin and it’s fragrance + EO free. I do think it’s a bit too thick for me when the weather is hot (oily-combo), but it’s great in the PM and as a Winter Moisturiser to lock everything in.
Do I prefer this or the Toner?: If I had to choose one, I think this is more unique in texture and provides a hydrating finish to the skin over the toner. Review of the Toner is HERE.
Would I repurchase?: Yes! I think it’s a good, basic toner and I think the only cream that would beat it out for me is the Krave Cream (Review HERE).
Dupe?: The Krave Oat so Simple Water Cream (Review HERE) is a good texture dupe as well as the Curel Intensive Moisture Cream (Review HERE) and the Dr G Red Blemish Cream (Review HERE). The COSRX Snail Cream is slightly thicker/heavier – so Dry skins might want to take a look – Review HERE.
My Skin Type: I am acne prone and have slightly dehydrated combo skin. My skin is usually tight where the cheeks and eye area is and the outer parts of my face. My T zone is oily. My skin isn’t a fan of thick/heavy formulas so I opt for lightweight formulas to prevent it from clogging up. My skin doesn’t like essential oils either and I try to avoid fragrance when I can.
