A beauty product that will never go missing from my makeup collection is lip balm. I always have one with me, and I think it’s a staple product everyone needs. When I was younger, I was devoted to Chapstick and Carmex. Nowadays, though, the possibilities are endless when it comes to hydrating lip products. There are different textures, scents, and even shades.
I am always on the hunt for the next best lip product, and Pat McGrath Labs’s Lip Fetish Balm caught my eye right away. I saw the color Gold Astral—a beautiful shimmering gold tone—and it reminded me of summer, so I knew I had to give it a try. About My Lips: In need of constant hydration
I cannot get enough of lip products. I usually keep one on me since my lips can get really dry, particularly in the winter and after using masks. I use a variety of products on my lips, from lip masks and lip balms to lipsticks and lipglosses. I always use a lip balm once I’ve completed my skincare routine, whether morning or night. I tested this product almost daily, and it did not cause any irritation to my sensitive skin.
How to Apply: Directly or with a lip brush
You may apply this product straight to your lips since it is in stick form. Gold Astral, the shade I tested, is one of the more glittery tones, and it applies smoothly with minimal fallout or mess, which is fantastic. If you want to add a burst of glitter to your usual lipsticks, apply your lipstick first, then take some of the balm and apply it on top using a brush or your fingers.
The Results: Glowy lips
I began with my typical makeup routine: I started with primer and then used the Nars Natural Radiant Foundation. I added a dab of concealer followed by blush and highlighter and ended my look with the Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Astral Lip Balm. After applying this product, my lips felt immediately moisturized. The creaminess and nourishing properties of the formula are unrivaled. The balm is lightweight and has a nice satin finish, and it lasts for a long time. Where I am the temperature is chilly, and this balm is a lifesaver. I enjoy how the shimmer doesn’t shift, which was one of my concerns about a product like this. I would say it surpassed my expectations.
The Value: You get what you pay for
The Lip Fetish Astral Lip Balms cost $36, which is firmly in the “high end” range. This lip balm is not only moisturizing, but it also comes in a variety of hues that provide a beautiful pop of color to your lips. There aren’t many identical products on the market; the closest I’ve seen is Tom Ford’s Frost Lip Balm, which costs $58. You get 3.5 grams/0.12 ounces of product with the Astral Lip Balms, which should last you a reasonable amount of time. I believe that you get what you pay for, and this lip balm is deserving of a spot in your beauty bag.

Burt Bee’s Lip Shimmer: The Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer ($5) offers a hint of radiance to the lips and has a tingling sensation after application. It’s only available in shades of pink, however, while the Lip Fetish Lip Balms come in a variety of hues.
Glossier Balm Dotcom in Birthday: Glossier’s Balm Dotcom ($15) is a moisturizing lip balm that is formulated to heal dry, chafed skin. The shade Birthday features a vanilla buttercream cake smell and has faint glitter “sprinkles.” It’s a lovely, natural lip balm, but do know that it lacks the pigment you’ll find in the Astral Lip Balms.
