My Thoughts: I’m so thrilled to finally get my hands on this baby! This product has been considered to be “THE BEST CUSHION” in the market and was seriously raved about by a lot of people since last year! Also, one of my friend really swears by it. So, being a self proclaimed cushion addict, I decided to get this on my next Althea Korea haul. Upon receiving the box, of course, I immediately opened this one because I’m too excited! But, lo, and behold, I was slightly taken aback by it’s scent. Yes, the fragrance is nice but for me, it’s definitely strong. FYI, I never really cared about a product’s scent, I am not super sensitive when it comes to fragrance but I can say that this one, has too much fragrance on it. The consistency is nice, not too thick and not too runny. Upon usage, I instantly understood why too many people rave about this product! It’s perfect! I mean, all I need is just a single layer and it covered up all of my hyperpigmentation, post acne scars, spider veins, sunspots and it gave me that flawless, bright, healthy, evened out skin tone! And I am not kidding you at all! It’s like MAGIC! I can use this alone, without having to use a concealer, an under eye brightener, even a setting powder! I love the semi matte finish of this cushion foundation! I just don’t know if the older version has the same effect because I never had it so I won’t be able to compare both. I love that it has a decent oil control, comfortable to use during hot and humid days, feels like I’m not wearing anything on my face, stayed in place, not sticky at all. My skin didn’t react negatively to this product as well. But application must be very careful because it tends to be cake-y if too much is applied. This product is the epitome of the saying “Less is More” And oh, I can tell that the cushion is really soaked up because when I first pushed my finger onto it to swatch it, it oozed with so much product! My only issue would be the strong fragrance but other than that, nothing! I highly recommend this if you like medium to full coverage foundation, doesn’t care too much with the scent and for oily skinned gals and guys like me!
PS: I really liked the black ruby cell puff, ‘coz it’s black, it looks so elegant and it didn’t absorb the product plus it makes the foundation blending easy-breezy.
How I Use It? I love how it can deliver a medium to full coverage but I personally want a sheer to medium coverage nowadays so what I do is, I apply the product using a damp beauty sponge, the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge to be exact the push the foundation onto my skin and blend it very carefully until I achieve the texture and finish that I want.
PROS:
- has a high sun protection factor – SPF 50+ PA+++
- buildable coverage
- doesn’t wear like a mask
- packaging is nice and easy to carry around
- did not cause break outs
- not tacky
- semi matte, velvety finish
- decent oil control
CONS:
- no refill (need to purchase a new foundation set!)
- tends to be cake-y if too much product is applied
- too fragrant
Overall, I love this cushion and I was really amazed by it’s coverage and it’s staying power. It does lives up to it’s name. MAGIC!
We’re you able to try this cushion? What are your thoughts about it? Did you like it or not? Thanks for stopping by, until my next post!
