By now, there are a ton of hyaluronic acid serums to choose from with price points from the lowest of low to the incredibly high. Vichy LiftActiv Supreme Serum 10 is somewhere in the middle, and like similar serums, promises plumper, more hydrated skin.
If you’re new to hyaluronic acid (HA), first you should know that it’s already naturally present in our bodies. As a topical, it works by attracting water (somewhere around 1000 times its weight) which in turn hydrates skin and gives you all the benefits of plumped skin. There are tons of products that include HA, mostly serums that can play well in most skincare routines.
Whether you’re trying an HA for the first time or you’re looking for something new, the Vichy LiftActiv Supreme Serum 10 might be one you have your eye on. Is it worth it? I tested it, and here are my thoughts.
About My Skin: Keeping it hydrated
Over the years I’ve seen signs of aging creeping in—fine lines where there weren’t any before, and a slight loss of elasticity. Keeping my skin hydrated helps, so I like to use products that moisturize without causing my breakout-prone skin to react.
I used the serum right out of the shower since HA works best when applied to damp skin. Depending on the day, I either applied a moisturizer on top right away or waited until later to use my tretinoin prescription and then moisturizer. You can use the HA serum morning and night, however, I used it solely in the evenings.
The Feel: Sinks in but leaves a scent
Ther serum is iridescent white and silky and spreads smoothly over the skin. It disappears nearly instantly, and the only evidence it was ever on is that hydrated skin it leaves behind. Moisturizer, makeup, or any other skincare products can be applied on top immediately after without disturbing the other.
The only negative I have about the application was the scent. It smells artificial and perfume-like, which may not bother you but wasn’t my favorite. The scent disappears within ten minutes, but those with sensitive skin may still find it irritating.

The Results: Plumped up skin
The formula has 10% rhamnose, a plant sugar, which improves skin structure and aids healthy aging. Meanwhile, fragmented hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps skin. Because the HA is fragmented, aka broken into tinier bits, it more easily penetrates deeper layers of skin.
The brand claims that a difference can be seen in 10 days. I decided to focus on the fine lines in my forehead and ever-growing lines between my brows and applied the serum to my skin every night.
Over a longer period the results may become more pronounced, and keeping the skin hydrated can keep those lines from forming in the first place.

The Value: A mid-range HA product
The serum sells for around $45 for the 1-ounce bottle. This is about in the middle when compared to similar serums that contain HA, which can range from under $10 to the $300 bottle from Dr. Barbara Sturm. There are several other serums around this price that contain more beneficial ingredients in a possibly better formulation, so in my opinion, this is as much as I would want to pay for a serum like this.
