Dermacol was launched in Prague back in the early 1960s, Dermacol quickly developed its first (and most iconic) product – the Make-Up Cover. Launched as a first of its kind, news quickly spread and the Make-Up Cover line found itself being sold as far away as Hollywood in 1969.
Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation is an iconic, hypoallergenic foundation providing extreme coverage with a natural-looking finish. Containing 50% pigment, it creates a satin matte appearance with complete coverage of acne, bruising, tattoos, spots and skin imperfections. Widely used by professional make-up artists, it can be used on face or body for skin tone correction or colour balance. Sounds good!
For my face 209 was perfect for my skin – a light ivory shade. Below, I discovered an infographic which will help you further in choosing the shade for you!
The Dermacol Make-up Cover can be used to cover any scarring
and successful in covering any tattoo!
Would I use it myself? Not for everyday use, it’s too heavy for my skin type. If I had acne prone skin and suffered from redness then yes. I found the best way to apply this was with a moist Real Techniques Sponge. It covers any redness & dark circles as it’s hyper pigmented. For a night out, I love to use this foundation as it gives you a real airbrushed look. It sets with a matte finish, whilst leaving a slight natural glow. However, I would suggest taking your time and ensuring that the foundation is blended properly as it has the potential to look cakey.
The product comes in a golden sealed tube which can be opened by using the back side of the cap. The texture is creamy like a velvety mousse making it easy to spread and apply. It has a floral fragrance which is pleasant! The pigmentation is very extreme and only a pea sized drop is required for full face coverage which is quite remarkable!
A little bit goes a long way! The tube would probably last me an entire year due to the tiny amount of product actually needed per application. I also mixed a small amount of Dermacol Make-Up Cover with my moisturiser as this gave me my preferred light/medium coverage. It’s also great for concealing tired eyes!
Due to the extreme coverage, there is a potential for this foundation to clog pores if not removed thoroughly. Ensure you have a rigorous cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising routine to prevent this and break outs.
Benefits:
- Waterproof
- Hypoallergenic
- Ideal for all skin types
- SPF 30
- Preservative free
- Coverage: Full (extreme)
Negatives:
- Quite oily
- Deep cleansing require after use (to avoid clogging pores)
- Choosing Dermacol shades can be a bit tricky for darker Asian skin tones
Overall, I highly recommend the Make-Up Cover, I can imagine this foundation could really transform someone’s confidence, especially if they feel self-conscious of their skin and of any scarring.
One last thing! Be aware of fakes. Due to the popularity of the Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation, there are a number of retailers selling counterfeit products. Justmylook is an official Dermacol retailer and you can contact Dermacol directly to verify this.
