The SoundPEATS TrueCapsule 2’s are inexpensive earbud that SoundPEATS is putting more features than ever into. This deep-set stem-style true wireless earbuds is now available for only $39 on Amazon at the time of writing.
I’ve used these for quite a number of work outs, while running and listening to lots of EDM, hip-hop, classic rock and energetic pop. I’ve tested the mics out on phone calls, tested latency, maximum volume and have enjoyed putting my impressions together for this review

Case
The case is a very simple design with strong magnetic closure and mounts for the earbuds. It’s simple to put in a pocket, regardless of the pocket, and it fits in my jean’s 5th pocket (the little pocket), but it’s not pretty.
The case is nice. I think it’s of great quality for $39. I love that it does’t get fingerprints on the material, plus it’s solid.
Opening or closing the case will not trigger connection or disconnection from your phone. Placing the earbuds into the case is easy and reliably disconnects them. Removing them from the case is also quite easy and starts the connection with your phone/laptop.
Call Quality
These buds have cvc8 noise cancelling technology built in. See my YouTube video for samples of their quality. These are inexpensive earbuds, but I’ve had no complaints using the microphones for phone calls with multiple different people, all in a quiet environment. In my tests, the noise suppression worked well. They picked up my voice well and eliminated aggressively background noise to the point of clipping audio sometimes. Running & Working Out
As a runner, the SoundPEATS TrueCapsule 2 are an earbud that will take just a little fiddling with the position of the earbuds in your ears to make them just ok for running. They are solid for working out low impact, but for high impact, there’s quite a bit of occlusion – you’ll will have to fiddle with the fit to make them a good companion for working out and maybe change to smaller sized eartips.
Their in-ear position blocks out a lot of noise and does cause some occlusion, but it’s just fine while moving at walking speeds. I was able to further improve these for running by simply pulling them out of my ears just a tad or putting on smaller eartips, preventing them from sealing in my ear canals so that these do not echo that much while running or working out, at least for my ears.
So, these are ok for running or working out if you are willing to take the time to learn how to wear them correctly for running.
Sound Quality
I couldn’t determine what size drivers the TrueCapsule 2 have in them – some SoundPEATS information says 6mm and other says 14.2mm drivers. Whatever size the drivers are, the TrueCapsule 2 have a very fun, bass-y, energetic sound.
Comfort & Controls
These buds are a stem-styled earbud that fit in my ears very well and can be manipulated deeper or shallower in-ear depth, for more or less, passive noise isolation, by simply pulling out or pushing in to your ear canals.
The TrueCapsule 2’s should be reasonably comfortable for most people to wear. They give a very similar experience to an in-ear earbud from a passive noise isolation perspective and the bass audio quality is immediately noticeable.
The controls control everything, including volume and are likely the best controls I’ve ever used on a pair of sub-$50 earbuds. The sensors are highly sensitive to pick up touch commands, but I didn’t receive any mis-taps with these buds – there’s plenty of area on the stem to to hold them, that does not trigger errant commands.
These earbuds also have a solid working in-ear detection capability. Remove either bud from your ear and the music will stop. i
Bluetooth
The TrueCapsule 2’s have Bluetooth range as-advertised by the staff. . The range is about as advertised at 27 feet, and the connectivity is reliable.
Video & Latency
I used the TrueCapsule’s with my Pixel 4XL on the YouTube app and there are so fewer Netflix app and what minor latency with voices or sound effects that existed.
For gaming, these bluetooth earbuds have delay compared to many other earbuds I’ve tested. I’m no longer a serious gamer, but these might not work for people with certain skills.

Pros & Cons?
There are a few things that would improve the TrueCapsule 2’s without adding much cost, in my opinion:
- Touch controls are very accurate, best usability of any bud under $50 that I’ve tested.
- they have decent microphones in my testing and phone calls
At less than $40, these are a great choice if you can live with the shortcomings presented above, but I stress that the Bluetooth is a constant issue that plagues my earbuds.
